IT'S HOT-HOT-HOT!

Sunday, May 21, 2000 VW's at The Bay, Vallejo. The Crew from Greg's VW sets out in what is recognized as the first Heat Wave of the year. Record temperatures are expected at the Fairgrounds. The crew packs 2 engines for the engine blow. First engine has a bad knock, and is not expected to run for very long. Because of the scary noise it makes, the engine is Dubbed "Rock-N-Roll".

Due to a double booking at the fairgrounds, the KD Show is located in the South Parking Lot. The Crew sets-up, looking for shade and prepares for a "HOT ONE".

Teams are being invited for the Push Drags. Josh Preston, Chuck Riley, and Billy Lang, are quick to enter representing Greg's VW. In their first attempt, a timing problem occurs.Although they appear to have the fastest time of the day, no time is recorded and they will have to go again. After a brief rest, the team regains their composure. In their second attempt, the team takes a respectable second place. They each go home with a Trophy, and $30.00 Cash.

As always, Greg tosses gifts into the crowd prior to the engine blow. Additional gifts are added by Wolfgang Intl. As expected, First engine blows instantly. Before ever reaching peak RPM's, "Rock-N-Roll", throws a rod through the case! Before Greg has a chance to move away from the safety cage, the engine blow is over before it ever really started. Unhurt, Greg feels very lucky. The crowd is somewhat disappointed. This experience will bring more precautions, and safety measures to future engine blows.

Unfazed, the Crew sets up second engine. It is fired up and runs for 4 minutes before it blows. Fire shoots from the case, and is quickly extinguished by the safety crew.

Eddy gets busy cooking up Tacos's for lunch, and everyone congratulates him on another fine job.

Thanks to all that attended. Let's help keep these local shows alive.
